Why the photo matters most

Your photo is the only thing that tells the model who you are. Our best video model builds the whole party scene around it, so a sharp, well-lit face gives you a host that looks like you in every frame, and a blurry or dark one gives the model something to guess at.

The good news: the right photo is usually already on your phone.

Light

Soft, even light shows the face best. Daylight from a window in front of you is ideal; harsh sun, strong shadows and the flash all hide detail.

  • Face the light, don’t stand with it behind you.
  • Avoid shadows across the eyes from hats or hair.
  • Skip heavy beauty filters: they smooth away the features the model needs.

Angle and framing

Look straight at the camera, with your whole face in the picture and some space around it.

  • Front-facing, not a side profile or a tilted head.
  • Eyes, jawline and hairline visible; no sunglasses, masks or hands in front of the face.
  • One person only. A face cropped out of a group photo is usually too small and too soft.
  • An upright portrait keeps the face large in a 9:16 vertical clip.

Size and file

The upload takes JPG, PNG or WebP files up to 8 MB and resizes them in your browser. For the best result:

  • Around 800 to 2,000 pixels on the long side; anything bigger is scaled down for you.
  • At least 300 pixels on the short side, or the photo is refused as too small.
  • A regular portrait or landscape shape (between 2:5 and 5:2); very tall or wide photos are offered a trim first.
  • The original photo, not a screenshot or a photo of a screen.

Check it for free first

Before you spend credits, run the photo through the free photo checker. It checks resolution, exposure, sharpness and orientation right on your device, without uploading anything, and tells you what to fix.

A photo that passes the checker gives our best video model the most to work with, and you the most recognizable clip.

If your photo is refused

Every photo passes an automatic check before rendering. If yours doesn’t, the page tells you why and no credits are used. The usual reasons:

  • No clear face: use a photo where one face looks toward the camera.
  • More than one person: crop to just your face, or use a solo portrait.
  • Looks like a well-known person: we only render people who agreed, never celebrities or public figures.
  • Looks younger than 18: we only render adults.
  • Too blurry, dark or covered: a sharp, well-lit, front-facing photo works best.

AI Burning Bridges photo FAQ

What is the best photo for an AI Burning Bridges video?

One sharp, front-facing photo of one person in soft, even light, with eyes, jawline and hairline visible and no heavy filters.

Can I use a selfie?

Yes. A selfie taken at arm’s length, facing a window, works very well. Avoid wide-angle close-ups that distort the face.

Can I use an old or printed photo?

A sharp scan can work. A photo of a screen or a blurry print usually loses too much detail for the model to keep the face recognizable.

Is my photo stored?

Photos are downscaled in your browser, used only for your render and removed from temporary storage after processing. They are not used to train models.

Do I lose credits if my photo is refused?

No. The check runs before rendering; a refused photo uses no credits, so you can try another one right away.
